Torment: Tides of Numenera Game In-depth Review

RPG games have their own peculiar qualities. They keep the player engaged for a long time while providing a unique gaming experience. The second bit about the unique gaming experience classifies the best games from the worst ones. Some games succeed in this regard while some do not. In any case, it is not necessary that every RPG will succeed in giving you a great experience. Torment: Tides of Numenera is an exception, however. It has all the elements that make it a unique and amazing RPG. Not every game succeeds in capturing the senses of the player through written dialogues. Similarly, not every game is great in storytelling.

What makes the Tides of Numenera Game special?

Many people loved Planescape. Torment: Tides of Numenera follows the same footprints with some twists and these twists are what make this game better in every aspect. Every game has its pros and cons so you might feel a little disappointment in some sectors, but this does not mean that it is a bad game. In fact, if you really like RPGs and interesting stories, then you will surely love Torment: Tides of Numenera.

The World:

The world is much similar to that of Planescape. Still, it has its own peculiarities. You will be the final castoff who is actually a left-for-dead kind of body of The Changing God. The Changing God keeps creating his bodies in order to avoid death. You are not the only castoff; there are many other cast-offs there with you. The object of your life journey is to avoid death as well. That is so because: The Sorrow, a beast hunting down each castoff, is after you and you do not want to die by his hands.

The best thing about the world of this game is the NPCs. Each interaction will seem rewarding and full of awe-inspiring moments.

Fight or no fight:

Fighting in this game is very different from most other RPGs. It is not Skyrim, where you will enter a dungeon and begin slashing enemies. This game emphasizes dialogues. In fact, dialogues play a vital role in this game. They are the key to everything. Your skills will depend on your dialogues as well as the outcomes. You can avoid many fights through talking to the enemies. This is another thing, which brings similarity between Tides of Numenera and Planescape.

The fighting mechanisms of this game are not that bad either. You can choose to fight enemies as well. The only thing that might disappoint you is that it has turned-based fights. Apart from that, you can expect hordes of enemies.

You will not play’ most of the time in Torment: Tides of Numenera. You will be reading. The humongous amount of dialogues will keep you reading for a long time. However, the interesting writing and the story will make sure you do not feel any boredom. From heart-breaking stories of NPCs to slashing enemies with digital swords, you will be getting a unique gaming experience here.

Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy – Review

Getting over It with Bennett Foddy is a new game released worldwide on steam on 7th December 2017. Bennett Foddy, the creator of the game, has released many much-adored games earlier, but Getting Over It is the new trend, owing to the YouTube Stars.

Idea of the Game

The basic overview of the game is a man stuck in cauldron trying to get over all the obstacles with just a hammer. Yes, just a hammer. You have to get over a mountain, a junkyard, buildings, construction site and many more obstacles by just hitting your hammer and pulling yourself up.

Bennett Foddy took the idea of this game from “Sexy hiking”, an old school 8-bit game. Though the idea is pretty basic, it makes the game a real delight to play, well not always.

Why should you play it?

It is the new trend. Getting Over It is nothing like, Dota, CS: GO or PUBG or any big giants. But it is the new trend amongst those who love to explore games and are really patient to get somewhere. When you check out the videos of Getting Over It, it might seem really easy to get through the game, but only someone who has spent enough hour on the game will realize that the controls are not exactly helpful.

All the control you have in this game is a mouse or a trackpad. So, if you think you know your mouse well, try this, Another reason to play the game is the prize at the end of the game. Everyone knows there is a reward at the end of the game, but before you see your reward, Bennett makes sure you aren’t streaming or record and won’t spoil it for others. So, the only way to know what’s the prize, is to play the game.

Why shouldn’t you play it?

The rage related to this game is real. You will fall down and will lose great progress a lot of times through the game. You will have to start all over again and get through the painful obstacles again, and after another few hours, you’ll get back to where you were to make another try and fall down again.

Losing progress will not be painful after a while, or at least not “as painful”, but the voice over. Ever time you lose progress Bennett either sympathizes with you or quotes someone. For the first few times it’s going to sound good especially when Bennett congratulates and guides you on your first few steps of progress, but then it all seems like a strategy to make you lose your concentration. Also, after a few quotes, the game plays some really old and annoying music of defeat, to make your suffering worse.
Rage, voiceover, music.

Getting Over It with Bennett Foddy is a game worth playing at least a little bit if not through just to test your mouse skills, your patients and how bad and sharp can your tongue be. The price tag on the game is low too. You won’t regret playing Getting Over It at all, but you’ll sooner or later, regret your life decisions.

An Unbiased Review Of Hand of Fate 2 – A Popular Table Top Card Game

Hand of Fate 2, an action role-playing game, has been produced by Defiant Development. The game was launched on PS4, Steam, and the Xbox One in November 2017.

The Gameplay

The game’s main concept continues to be the same: you choose a campaign, which is essentially a number of encounter cards that are put face down. You either rely on games of luck or games of skill while undertaking these encounters and eventually you reach the campaign’s end. You ingest food in every step, and your health can get exhausted once your food is used up. The mission will terminate in case you run out of your health although it might not be the only method to be unsuccessful.

The most significant difference lies in the quest’s preparation. This time you are provided with a hint prior to starting any of the 22 missions which will aid you to comprehend what type of campaign to anticipate. There are likewise suggestions available for aiding you to choose which particular card to use during your venture.

The Story

Virtually every campaign finished with a boss fight in the first game; nevertheless, this is not the truth when it comes to Hand of Fate 2. Apart from regular boss fight missions, there are also others where no combat is involved whatsoever.

This time almost all quests provide sub-objectives, for instance, accumulating enough fame prior to interacting with the barbarian princess. A lot more customized and stimulating feel to the arbitrarily generated dungeons is offered by all these encapsulated narratives which inspires you to explore the missions that unlock while you advance further.

However, something has remained the same amongst all these modifications. It is the dealer. The dealer has not changed at all between the two games; he mocks you when you choose specific cards repeatedly for your load-outs, he jokes at you while you fail, praises you whenever you do something great, and sympathizes you if you face any undesirable situation.

Graphics and Sound

Similar to its prequels, Hand of Fate 2 has preferred a hand-drawn art style resulting in some gorgeous looking cards. The players’ 3-D model renders, in contrast, don’t do any justice to their original concept art. Now, there is far more depth in character development allowing you to choose your hairstyle, outfit, complexion, not to mention your gender.

The game does a reasonable job in terms of sound.

The Pros:

  1. Plenty of new cards to unlock and play around with
  2. Lots of innovative features as compared to the original
  3. Appears to be unique and much more streamlined as compared to other RPGs

The Cons:

  1. Combat gameplay starts to stale
  2. Not many missions to play with

Hand of Fate 2 has been a significant improvement from the original release in every possible way. There is a noticeable difference across the board with more encounters, more cards, more weaponry, more enemy types, more obstacles, more special skills, and so on. All these enhancements have been accomplished without compromising the integrity of the series. Do not give any second thoughts to pick this awesome video game which will keep you engrossed for hours together.
